As a Southern Baptist Church and a member of good standing with the Southern Baptist Convention, Mount Zion adheres to the following beliefs:
The Bible is divinely inspired by God and is completely without error. It is totally true and trustworthy, revealing God's nature, authority, standards and holiness, and is the standard by which all things must be measured. All scripture testifies to Christ, who is the Son of God, our Savior.
God is the one and only God, infinite in holiness, and the only supreme being. He is all powerful and all knowing. God is Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; which have always existed.
Mankind is special creation of God having been made in His own image. He created male and female for the purpose of His glory and honor. Because of sin, all mankind are depraved of righteousness and therefore must be saved by faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin and eternal life.
Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man and is offered freely to any who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, whom by His own blood has made eternal redemption for the believer.
The Church is an autonomous, local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing both ordinances of Christ which are the Lord's Supper and Baptism.
Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, the believer's death to self, the burial of his old life, and the resurrection of his new life in Christ.
The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of Christ's Church, through the taking of the bread and fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of Christ and His second coming.
The Lord's Day is the first day of the week and is set aside for regular observance of the Bible, prayer, worship and fellowship with other believers.
Missions, Evangelism, Giving & Serving are duties of every believer of Christ to endeavor to make disciples of all nations through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.
The Family is a God-ordained institution of human society composed of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are equal members of the same family reflecting the relationship God has with His children and the relationship of Christ and His bride, the Church. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God's pattern for marriage.
All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our own lives and in human society. Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and all forms of sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. We should work to provide for the orphaned, the needy, the abused, the aged, the helpless, and the sick. We should speak on behalf of the unborn and contend for the sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death.
Last Things state that God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly. The dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous/unbelievers will be consigned to eternal hell. The righteous/true believers will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.
